PERSEPHONE

“Between Paradise and the Underworld.”
Designers Hila and Kristian Aadnevik draw inspiration from Persephone’s evolution from innocence into the powerful Queen of the Underworld, and from the ancient myth of nature’s eternal cycle of death and rebirth.
“Persephone is the romantic heroine of this collection; a woman caught between innocence and darkness, fragility and power. We were fascinated by her transformation. She begins surrounded by flowers and sunlight, descends into a mysterious world beneath the earth, and returns changed. There is something incredibly beautiful in the contrast between the young goddess of spring and the woman who becomes Queen of the Underworld.”
The collection opens in an idyllic palette of porcelain white, ivory, pale blush and delicate botanical shades. Weightless silk chiffon, transparent tulle and French lace float around the body, while handcrafted flowers blossom across gowns as if growing from the fabric itself. Fine embroideries and shimmering crystals evoke the first morning dew, creating an ethereal vision of youth and awakening nature.
Laced silk corsets and finely braided leather gradually emerge beneath the softness, sculpting and restraining the body as Persephone begins her descent. Romantic floral embroideries grow darker and more seductive, delicate fabrics reveal glimpses of bare skin, and white gives way to pomegranate red, midnight and black.
The pomegranate becomes the forbidden symbol at the heart of the collection. Having tasted its seeds, Persephone is forever bound to Hades and destined to divide her existence between the world above and the kingdom below. Rich red crystals, intricate beading and jewel-like embroideries appear across the darker gowns like scattered pomegranate seeds — beautiful, seductive and fatal. Black lace, transparent silk and sculpted leather corsetry reveal Persephone as a queen. Fragility becomes strength; daylight gives way to shadow. Yet Persephone belongs entirely to neither realm. Her return brings the awakening of nature, while her descent marks its death and the arrival of winter. She embodies both life and death, innocence and experience, light and shadow.
Spring / Summer 2027 explores this duality through the AADNEVIK woman — romantic yet rebellious, delicate yet powerful, moving effortlessly between vulnerability and seduction. Persephone is no longer simply the girl gathering flowers. She is Queen of the Underworld.
“From darkness, she blooms again.”
