AMAZONIAN RAINFOREST

“Some day the earth will weep, she will beg for her life, she will cry with tears of blood. You will make a choice, if you will help her or let her die, and when she dies you too will die” John Hollow Horn Oglala Lakota. The Spring / Summer collection is inspired by the wonder and mystery of the tropical Amazonian rainforest, where the black Jaguar silently roams under the big lapuna trees, while the black Caiman lures at the river bank and the colourful Macaws’ paint the sky in blues, yellows, reds and greens. Nietzsche once said "that which does not kill us makes us stronger." It is this same idea that is awakened in the life of the deep jungle. The roar of the Jaguar was the roar of thunder, the Black Panther was the god of darkness and could cause eclipses by swallowing the sun. This reflects the tremendous power inherent within the feminine forces and the Amazonian muse of the collection. The Jaguar is the tie to all manifestations of life thus ties to the eternal feminine within all life. One who can become a Jaguar is shorn of all cultural restrictions. The alter ego is free to act out desires, fears and aspirations. “The rainforest is disappearing at a concerning pace and this collection is about the beauty of a perishing world. As a symbol of the darkness and strength of the powerful forces of the forest; a band crafted of leather and beads is protecting the fragile alluring world within like a mighty Boa snake grasping its own tale.” Hila and Kristian Aadnevik Natural elements with leather craftsmanship and couture feather adornments are set against exotic skins, french lace, embroidered butterflies, beads, layers of net and floaty chiffon. Prints are illustrated with Blue Morpho and Melanosuchus niger. Bright yellows, reds, greens, blues and pinks are contrasted against nudes, whites, metallics and blacks.
